Alcoholic Drinks
It wasn't a disco party in the 1970's without booze flowing freely...
The truth is that the parties without drinking we're not the parties anyone we know got invited to.

Alcohol infused Punch bowl drinks were popular in the 70's and there's lots of recipes for punch bowl drinks online, we won't even get into them because there are so many.

We asked around about other drinks our friends drank in the 1970's and this is what we heard: sloe gin fizz - sloe gin and 7-up; Southern Comfort and 7-up.... cold glass bottled beer. Other mixed drinks we heard more than once during our informal poll were Singapore Sling, Rob Roy, Dacquiri, Tom Collins, Zombie, Tequila Sunrise, Mai Tai and Stinger.

You can find all of the drink recipes you'll ever need online. Check out webtender.com - you'll get thirsty just looking.

Have some sober designated drivers on standby and/or some cabs. Nothing could ruin all of the memories of a great 1970's theme party than a senseless tragedy involving drunk driving. Of course, as all responsible party throwers and party goers know, you must make sure everyone gets home safe!

Or do what we do and take all the car keys away from everyone when they walk in, lock them in a vault and let them pass out on the floor fully clothed and not return their keys until after brunch the next day. Oh, and buy a jumbo size bottle of pain relievers for those hangovers.

Feed the disco folks
We fondue... do you?

With the booze flowing, people partying to that disco beat, having food for your guests is necessary. Keep it simple. Finger foods are your best bet for the disco party.

Our 70's fave is, of course... is cheese fondue. Stab a piece of bread or a piece of meat with a fondue fork and dip and devour. Otherwise, cold cuts, bread and condiments so that guests can make their own sandwiches. Vegetable trays. Chips and french onion dip. Yep. Just like that.

Pizza would be perfect, too. Yes, pizza has been a favorite for many decades now.

We can't imagine having a sit down dinner at a disco party, unless you decide to host an informal barbeque. Let people graze in between socializing, drinking and dancing.

More ideas to add FUN to the disco party!

Give prizes out to the best dressed guest or couple.
Have a disco dance contest or, a lip sync contest.
Rent or buy a karaoke machine and get some disco karaoke cd's that guests can sing.
Buy or rent "Saturday Night Fever" and show the movie to your guests.

Photographs

Remember to take plenty of photographs during the party. Pull guests aside and get some staged shots against a backdrop, or with people dancing in the background. After the party, send them a photo of themselves with a note, or - put the party pictures on the web and let everyone know where they are so they can get them.

Don't forget that the men attending your party that buy authentic disco clothes from DressThatMan.com can have their pictures from your party featured in DressThatMan's customer gallery, the Funky Fashion Hall of Fame.

We'd love to showcase your party people in our threads!
