A little munsingwear penguin history lesson: In 1955, after talking to 240 golf professionals about their apparel needs, The Company introduced the very first knit golf shirt. The Grand SlamŽ golf shirt with the famous PenguinŽ emblem and underarm "action gusset" was an immediate success. It soon became the biggest selling knit golf shirt in the world, and it transformed the game of golf from a dressy affair into the casual sport it is today. Bob hope and Bing crosby were some of the first stars to advertise it. We have clearly photographed the label and this shirt does have the under arm gusset described - we think it's one of the very earliest. In good condition, the only fault we found is the pocket has had a few stitches replaced to hold it at the top. It is labled " L ".
