item number: SUIT161 $149.99 1950s rare VINTAGE harris tweed 42 43 jacket sport coat DATED 1955 SOLD - SOLD - SOLD Made in Manchester England and custom fit in 1955 for a gentleman who apparently thought enough of this jacket to bring it back to the USA, it had taken up residence inside a closet for years and years until now. We're excited to be able to offer this quality of Harris Tweed, because we know for a fact they made it differently back then... much differently than they make it today. The fabric weave itself is thicker and the garment is so much heavier than what you'll find today. It's in excellent shape - no damage whatsoever on the outside, although it could do with a few stitches inside where the lining of the left armpit and along the inside facing along on the same side near the bottom, but... we'll leave that up to you - since it's an authentic 1955 vintage garment, we like to keep them that way instead of utilizing our inexperience as tailors in attempting to do any repairs - even ones that won't be seen, and you are much better off for it. Regardless of the repair you *could* have done inside, nobody would ever know if you decide to wear it as is. This item is in fantastic condition for its age.
